The Chomp API is a premium, paid service. While Chomp does not offer a permanently free tier, there are structured ways to evaluate the API before committing to a full subscription.
5-Day Free Trial
All new Standard and Premium subscriptions are eligible for a 5-day free trial.
This trial period allows developers to integrate the API, test response times, and evaluate data quality before the base subscription fee is charged.
Usage Fees During Trials: The free trial waives the base subscription fee for 5 days. However, it does not cover usage-based fees. If you are on a Standard plan, you will still be charged the fractional "per request" fee for any API calls made during the trial period.
Low-Cost Evaluation
If you prefer to evaluate the API without starting a trial on a higher tier, the Limited Subscription offers a highly cost-effective entry point. The Limited plan has no base fee and operates entirely on a low "per request" cost, making it ideal for isolated testing.
