Attribution Policy

Attribution Policy

Attribution is the practice of publicly acknowledging the Chomp API as the source of the nutritional data displayed within your application. By providing attribution, you help support the platform while remaining compliant with our licensing terms.

Requirements by Subscription Tier

Attribution requirements vary depending on your active subscription plan:

  • Limited Plan (Mandatory): You must provide a link back to Chomp or cite Chomp as the source wherever the data is displayed.
  • Standard Plan (Requested): Chomp strongly encourages providing attribution as it supports the service, though it may not fit every UI design perfectly.
  • Premium Plan (Optional): Premium subscribers are granted an automatic waiver for UI attribution. You are not required to provide a link back or display our logo in your application.

How to Provide Attribution

When providing attribution, it should be placed in a logical location where end-users view the food data (e.g., in a search footer, on a food detail screen, or in an "About" or "Settings" section).

Please review our Attribution Guide for specific instructions, HTML snippets, and approved logos.

Requesting a Waiver

If you are on a Limited or Standard plan and your application's user interface cannot accommodate visible attribution, you must upgrade to a Premium Plan to utilize the data without attribution. If you need formal written confirmation of your Premium waiver for legal compliance, please contact our support team.
